Go by touch and time rather than colour. Apply a thin layer, wait until it's tacky but doesn't transfer to your fingertip, then apply the next. Most wearers use 2–3 thin layers, pressing the lace firmly into the final tacky layer. Thin layers cure properly and hold harder — one thick layer stays soft underneath and actually weakens the bond.

It requires a little more patience, yes — that's the trade-off for the hold. Never pull the system off dry. Saturate the bond line with glue remover, give it time to fully break down the adhesive, and lift gently, reapplying remover to any spots that resist. A scalp scrub afterwards clears remaining residue. Done properly, removal is clean and painless.
